Snow in Paris is quite a rare phenomenon, but when Portuguese designer Hugo Costa presented his men’s Autumn/Winter collection earlier this year you could sense the winter chill. Upon entering the venue the male models entered and perched themselves on white boxes with artificial snow floating down from above.
There were several reasons why yours truly was especially interested in witnessing Hugo Costa’s second appearance at the Paris Fashion Week. Firstly, after seeing a runway show of his during Portugal Fashion in Porto it was evident that this talented designer would show in Paris and I had been waiting for it. It also tickled my curiosity that the collection was titled “Amundsen†which I rightly presumed was a reference to Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen.
Being Norwegian this name came up frequently while growing up and it is disputed whether he actually was the first person to reach the North Pole. Whether or not the models are fit for polar exploration you can decide in our exclusive look at the collection in the video below. What is sure is that Costa is well on the way of chiseling his name onto the official Paris Fashion Week calendar.
