While driving to the fashion show we had to ponder the title “Wild Blue Yonderâ€. Being the name of the collection, what did this imply? I was imagining being in a large library and finding an old book carrying this title about venturing into an unknown, wild land.
Feeling the need to scratch that curiosity itch we stepped aside for a moment with Helene Timsit, creative director of Mazarine to chat about the collection. As implied in the title, this collection is about adventurous women exploring distant lands. Hence the real hot air balloon that served as a backdrop for the fashion show. To cope with the elements one can encounter on a journey like this, the explorers’ uniforms combined boleros with balloon sleeves and military bands, wrap tops and bermudas.
As explorers need to be well equipped these multi functional silhouettes were adorned with belts, horn buckles, multiple pockets and globe bags to carry binoculars and compasses. In this sense you can literally have the whole world in your hands and conveniently choose your next travel destination.
The adventurers wardrobe also includes berets and escape maps to be wrapped in, striped silk blouses, duchess satin jackets, light twill trousers, organdy shirts and jersey dresses. The combos emit a subtle feminine elegance crossed with tough audacity. All fitted out these adventurers of the sky are ready for take off for their spring summer escapades.
