Anne Sofie Madsen’s Secretary Chic for Ready-to-Wear Spring Summer 2017

“I find inspiration in the contrasts and borders between the primitive and civilised, the exotic and classic, the barbaric and elegant, the futuristic and historical. As part of my vision, I wish is to show the well-known through the un-known. I am fascinated by the point where fashion replaces the body with something abstract – an idea or ideal rather than an organism. And I am interested in the way a silhouette can affect the body and the surrounding space and how materials, shapes, and proportions are able to generate a body language. ” – Anne Sofie Madsen

Anne Sofie Madsen’s Spring Summer collection 2017 combines the romantic with the deconstructed. Models with huge glasses and curls that bounce on their shoulders sport a wardrobe that is both classic and modern simultaneously. Defined ruffles tumble into asymmetric accents on shirts, trench coats with corsets, and leather and vinyl come together to create a collection that perhaps leans a little towards the sultry stylings of a fifties secretary, who has an edgier side. The traditional two-piece suit has had a make over with sharp wool and oversizing with longer jackets and flared trousers. The Danish designer continued this look with flesh coloured stockings in loafers, chokers, garter belts, asymmetry in the jewellery with smatterings of embroidery.

Structured fluidity, though perhaps an oxymoron, is a key element of this collection and Anne Sofie Madsen pulls it off magnificently.
