It’s summer. You’ve been at work all day, the sun has been taunting you, forcing itself through any crevice, glittering across your laptop and beckoning its finger to the outside world. You receive that joyous message that urges to you to join your friends and bask in the warm arms of the late July evenings. Alexis Marbille’s Spring Summer collection feels as though it has those moments in mind.

By combining daywear with evening wear, and the models sporting sneakers emblazoned with crystals, there is the sense that one could throw on some heels and be ready for any evening event that cry out to us in those shimmering spring / summer months before autumn.

Widely translated into primary colours with lemon yellows, oranges and whites. Smatterings of powder blue and gold add a lightness to the blacks and khakis. Continuing the theme of sumptuous day wear that can be dressed up for the evening, the silhouettes are flowing and gorgeous with some transparency and voluminous shapes. Stunning silks and stains, taffetas and organza are paired with broderie anglaise which offers an almost-seventies-folk feel to the pieces. The chambray coat dress trimmed in broderie anglaise lace, for example, or the full length broderie skirt, trimmed with black lace.

The stand out pieces were those that celebrated the glorious textiles and opted a lightness and clean lines above all others.
